Meadowsweet, a prolific European wildflower, was one of three herbs held most sacred by ancient Celtic Druids. Its astringency acts to reduce excess acidity in the digestive system and to protect and soothe the mucous membranes. Frank Roberts, the renowned English Herbalist, refers to Meadowsweet as 'the normaliser of a badly functioning stomach' with gastric secretions.
